Book a StallThe Minister of State for Civil Aviation, said in a recent interview that “India should have 150 to 200 airports in the next 15 to 20 years” at an estimated cost of Rs: 4 lakh crore. Among them, 70 airports will be at new locations while the rest will be second airports or expansion of existing airfields to handle commercial flights. The rest will come as the second airports that are intended to deal with the sudden growth in demand for air travel which threatens to overwhelm the present infrastructure.
India owns some state-of-the-art airports and more are on their way to boost the air connectivity between cities and ease congestion in existing airports. These airports will be developed under the Regional Air Connectivity Scheme (also known as the UDAN Scheme) which aims at facilitating regional connectivity through financial support and infrastructure development. As many as 18 new airports in the country will be developed under this scheme. These include Mopa in Goa, Navi Mumbai, Shirdi and Sindhudurg in Maharashtra, Bijapur, Gulbarga, Hasan and Shimoga in Karnataka, Kannur in Kerala, Pakyong in Sikkim, Karaikal in Puducherry, Dholera in Gujarat and Bhogapuram in Andhra Pradesh.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has chalked out a plan to invest about 19,000 crore in upgrading airport infrastructure in the country, especially in smaller cities, in the next three years. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) are not making investments in just smaller airports but also airports like those in Kolkata and Chennai. While work on upgrade at many airports has begun, work at some of the others will begin soon, the investment is being made in improving runway capacity as well as building terminal capacity.
Hence to support the Indian Aviation Sector after successfully hosting Three Annuals of the Airport Modernization Summit we will now be hosting the 4th Annual on the 28th & 29th April 2021. This Summit is a Two - Day educational and business exchange platform designed to connect regional and international project stakeholders.
